Champion System Australia and the Tour of Bright have announced a multi year sponsorship deal that will see the event renames the “Champion System Tour of Bright”.
The popular Tour of Bright is a multi stage two day event starting December 1, providing 9 different grades including masters, woman’s and Elite Mens categories, raced around the scenic Bright area in Victoria. The stages tend to be very challenging, but allow all levels of cyclists to enjoy a ‘tour’ style race. Each year the event is organized and run by the Alpine Cycling Club.
Support of this event sees a continued support by Champion System to developing grass roots cycling. Champion System are well known in the sport as a big supporter of professional teams and amateur teams across Australia but the commitment to the Tour of Bright sees a further development of that support. Managing Director Chris Reynolds explains “ Champion System is dedicated to supporting grass roots cycling and specifically clubs – this is how I got into Cycling a few years ago. I believe that the clubs are where cycling will continue to grow in this country and our business aims directly at supporting and servicing them. An event like the Champion System Tour of Bright, caters to the club rider – no matter what level they are, allowing them to race like a pro in a tour style event. We are privileged and excited to be involved.”
The support of companies like Champion System for the Tour of Bright will allow expansion and growth of this race over the coming years.
Entries certainly filled up quicker than we expected. Sorry to all those people that missed out, it must be frustrating. Please bear in mind that we are just as frustrated that we cant get you in. We love to ride and race here & we love sharing it with you. It's been interesting following various blogs and the comments that follow. Great to see how passionate people are. A lot of time & energy goes into putting on this race and it's obviuosly worth it. Some of the comments are very good and don't worry we are always trying to improve how things are done. Some of the ideas we are working on, but its usually money or volunteer time that hinders us from implimenting them. As the race is growing in stature we are hoping to be able to bring in more money & therefore add some huge improvements.
Entries will open on the 3rd of September. This year A grade men & women will be raced as a team event. You can still enter as an individual. We believe this will lift the profile of the race and therefore improve our chances to make the race better for everyone. Teams and individuals need to put the entries in early as we anticpate the cap will be reached quickly. Entries are capped at 550 riders and these positions fill well in advance of the entry cutoff. Cycling Victoria handle and control ALL ENTRIES. Direct ALL entry and grading questions to Cycling Victoria.

NEW REGULATIONS - VERY IMPORTANT Due to new regulations by Victoria Police extra requirements are needed for us to obtain road permits for the Mount Hotham Ascent as it is classed as remote. The Alpine Cycling Club has worked closely with the Police and is taking extra precautions to make the event safe. One thing ALL RIDERS will have to provide is a rear red light that is attached to the bicycle. This only applies to Stage 3 - Mount Hotham Ascent. If you do not have a rear light for that stage you will not be able to race as it is a condition of the permit. Please spread the word as there will be NO exceptions.
